The world is green
overcast in gray,
tentative stares praying for the sun.
Lovers’ webs in three hour plays
and the actors trying to please blue skies.
People praying for resurrection
having nightmares of damnation.
Praising six-foot tall mutant rabbits
for goody baskets and eggs in April downpour.
While the older children watch the calendar
with melting ice cream,
waiting for June.
